Senate office buildings evacuation ends

WASHINGTON, July 21 (Reuters) - Two Senate office buildings
were briefly evacuated on Wednesday after an alarm went off but
the U.S. Capitol building itself was not affected.
The two office buildings were evacuated for roughly 45
minutes after an alarm went off. Capitol police spokeswoman
Sgt. Contricia Ford said the problem was traced to a heat
sensor on basement generator.
Although some staffers had to leave their offices, the
Senate itself continued its work uninterrupted. These two
office buildings have had several evacuations in recent months
because of false or faulty alarms.
The alarm did not interrupt testimony by Federal Reserve
Chairman Alan Greenspan to a House of Representatives
committee.
