FED may choose to cut interest rates today. In the intraday trading this
could lead markets higher. The job report out from US last Friday was scary
reading. It showed that the Americans experienced the fastest job loss in
five years. This could make FED move â?" and currently the belief in the
market is that is going to happen. Futures are currently trading higher on
this rumor. From a trading perspective the rumor alone could trigger a
short term rally and lead stocks higher but most likely only intraday. Even
if FED should decide to make a surprise cut before the meeting at March 18th
the rally will not last long. There is absolutely no fundamental data that
supports this â?" quite the contrary actually. Earnings so far have been ok,
but the future seen from American CEOâ?Ts perspective is anything but bright
and the released data on the US economy have been scary reading for a while.
Household debt is increasing at historical high levels due to contracting
house markets and the fact that banks are not willing to lend people money
â?" no matter what the FED funds rate is â?" makes it very difficult to see
how the US could avoid a recession. And once investors finally realize this
